Derek’s professional career started right here at The Galeb Group. After discussing with Galeb Group's Executive Vice President (and family member) Shawn Finley about what this business entails, the clientele we interact with on a daily basis, and the impact we have on the community, Derek quickly realized how fortunate he was to be given an opportunity to work with a group whose values and objectives were so perfectly matched with his.
Financial independence has always been a goal of Derek’s. Independence is not solely achieved through hard work, although that definitely helps, but also through forethought and intelligent planning. As he continues down his path of financial independence, he now have the opportunity with The Galeb Group to help guide like-minded individuals towards their financial goals.
Born in Harbor City, raised in South Orange Country, and educated on California's central coast, Derek have been lucky enough to experience much of the environmental and demographic diversity California has to offer. That being said, the South Bay can compete with any other professional or leisure area in the world and Derek looks forward to fostering a lifelong career centered in this dynamic region.
He earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Financial Management supplemented with a minor in Economics at California Polytechnic University, San Luis Obispo.
In his free time Derek enjoys reading, writing/playing music, and his personal favorite, R&R with friends and family.
